New to Wigs?Beginners to buy online wigs?Whether someone has thinning hair, alopecia,or just wants to try a new look, buying a wig can be quite tricky because there are so many different types on the market. While some wigs create an amazingly natural look, others clearly look like synthetic hairpieces.Wigs are more than just a great addition to your beauty routine: they can boost your sense of self-esteem,help you follow the dictates of your faith,or make you feel more comfortable as you undergo cancer treatments. If you're unclear about how to narrow down styles and pick ones that will work best for you,our Wig Buyer's Guide is here to help! This guide walks readers through some of the key elements involved in choosing a wig that will give the wearer the most natural look possible.
How Are Hair Wigs Made?
To better understand wig types,it is useful to know how they are constructed. We're going to start by explaining what classic or standard caps are. Here,a machine sews-in wefts of hair to create a wig. There is no lace or mesh material on these caps.Since the hair is sewn in wefts, that creates rows of hair on the cap.
Understanding Capless Wigs
How much of an opening there is between these wefts also determines the type of a standard cap. This is where the word "capless" comes in.It might be confusing because we're talking about a wig cap that is also known as a "capless cap".
If the opening is up to 75% that means it is a capless wig
If it's 90% or more open,it is called a full capless.
There is also 100% capless, which is self-explanatory.The more open space you get,the more comfortable a hairpiece is because more air can go through it.
All of these standard or classic caps are usually the cheapest option out there. However, they are not as realistic as some other types like monofilament.
Monofilament Caps
Monofilament caps are a general term for wigs that manufactures make with a mesh lace fabric. Each hair is hand sewn on the lace.Monofilament varieties include:
Full lace wigs that constructed only out of sheer lace
360 wigs with lace going all around the hairline
Lace frontal wigs that have lace only at the front
Monofilament part with only a small section of lace at the parting
The crown of monofilament that has lace material only on the crown area
The top of monofilament where sheer lace is sewn-in on the top of the wig
Except for a full lace wig,all other types usually have a classic cap construction on parts without lace. The most advanced hairpiece construction is a silk top.
How to pick a wig?
Consider style length:As a rule, shorter "shake-n-go" styles are easiest to care for.Longer synthetic styles require a little more maintenance.A common mistake women make is choosing a style that's too long, which might not only be more work, but may overwhelm their features.
Consider your lifestyle:What does your typical day involve? Will you be wearing your wig every day,or only occasionally? These questions,as well as others concerning your work, recreational and social activity, may affect which style you choose.Be sure to keep your typical daily or weekly activities in mind as you try different wigs.
Customizing your style:Before wearing your wig for the first time, take it to your hairstylist and have them trim the bangs and sides to suit your face.If you plan on coloring a human hair wig for black women,we recommend having your hairstylist do it.
Choose a color that flatters:Many women feel most comfortable selecting a shade that matches their natural hair color. To do so,we recommend looking at your hair and color samples together under natural light to determine which color most closely resembles your own.
Meanwhile, your head's size would affect your wig.
Selecting a wig that compliments the shape of the wearer's face is critically important.Different wig styles suit different face shapes.Choosing an incompatible style can make it rather obvious that the user is wearing a wig, whereas choosing the correct style can create a very natural look, minimizing the likelihood that other people will suspect the user is wearing a wig.To properly determine the shape of the face, users should stand in front of a mirror and pull their hair back, looking at the whole face from the hairline to the chin to better gauge the facial shape.
Diamond-Shaped Face
Those with a diamond-shaped face have broad, high cheekbones,a narrower forehead, and a narrow, pointed chin.A diamond-shaped face is quite versatile when it comes to selecting an appropriate wig style. To get the most natural and complementary look for this facial shape, users should select a wig with volume across the forehead to add width to this narrow area.Shoulder-length styles, bobs,or tuck-behind-the-ears styles add width to the narrow lower face and chin.Ideally,to draw attention to the high cheekbones characteristic of this facial shape, the wig should be styled close to the head at this point.Wigs styled with lots of layers add volume and movement.
Heart-Shaped Face
Individuals with heart-shaped faces have a wide forehead that tapers into a very narrow chin.Wigs with fringes or bangs help to disguise the width of the forehead.Styles with volume around the lower jaw will provide a balanced look, making the chin seem more proportionate to the forehead.Long hair also works well with the heart-shaped facial structure, particularly if multiple layers are worked into the style, with feathering around the lower jaw,as this again creates the illusion of a well-balanced face.
Oval-Shaped Face
Of all the facial shapes, the oval structure is the most versatile when it comes to suitable wig styles because it is uniform and well proportioned.Really any style of wig, whether long, short, straight,or curly, works equally well to create a natural, stylish look.
Round-Shaped Face
People with rounded faces have soft, rounded chins and hairlines. With this structure, the face is widest across the cheeks, and the face from hairline to chin is quite short.Suitable wig styles include any that help create the appearance of a longer, more balanced face.Long, layered styles, those with an off-center parting, and short hair styles with volume at the top of the head but less volume close to the face are ideal wig options for individuals with fuller countenances.
Pear-Shaped Face
Pear-shaped faces are characterized by a wide, rounded chin and a comparatively narrow forehead. For a natural, appealing look, the idea is to select a wig that will take the focus away from the chin. This can be achieved by selecting short, cropped styles with a full, angled fringe or bangs.Another option is to choose a short style that has a voluminous crown and is closely cropped around the rest of the face.
Square-Shaped Face
The square-shaped facial structure includes a short face with a strong jaw,a straight chin, and a straight hairline.Like round-faced individuals, those with square-shaped faces want to elongate their countenance and give added shape and proportion. This can be accomplished by purchasing wigs similar to those previously recommended for round-shaped users.Additionally, wigs with feathers or wispy bangs can be worn to soften the overall appearance.
Oblong-Shaped Face
Wigs that create the illusion of added width to the face are ideal for people with oblong-shaped faces, who characteristically have a long, straight face with a square jaw and hairline.Jaw- or shoulder-length styles work well, particularly those with waves, curls,or lots of layering.Long wig styles with feathering around the face can also work to enhance the wearer's overall appearance.
How to measure your head's size?
Measure the circumference of your head.Whether you buy your wig in person or online, you will need to know the size of your head.
Take a cloth measuring tape and wrap it around your head.It should start in the middle of your forehead,go down to the base of the skull where the wig will end,and then wrap back up to meet the start of the tape on the forehead.
Make sure as you wrap the tape around your head, that you keep the tape above your ears.
When you choose a wig with baby hair for yourself, you will find, there are so many types wigs in the markets.
To select the correct size, users should measure around their heads from their hairline at the forehead, behind the ears, and around the nape of the neck. They should then measure from the hairline, over the top of the head,to the base of the head at the back. The third measurement that needs to be taken is from ear to ear, over the top of the head.Using these three measurements and the table below will allow users to select the most appropriate wig size.Because not everyone fits into the same pigeon holes when it comes to sizing, some individuals may not find a size that perfectly matches all three of their measurements. In this case, the user should select the wig size that fits the largest measurement.

What is the difference between the wigs?
The first thing you need to decide when buying a wig is a wig type. There are three most popular ones that you might have already heard about. We have a full lace wig,360 frontal wigs, and a lace front wig,and all of them give amazing results. You should pick according to your needs and wishes so we're going to explain how each one works.
Synthetic Wigs
Synthetic wigs are the ones which are now the most popular.Synthetic wigs are pre-styled so you can try on a ton of different looks.Synthetic wigs are durable and still maintain their style after being washed.Synthetic wigs are inexpensive and easy to clean. The fibers of synthetic wigs look and feel like human Hair.
Remy Human Hair Wigs
Remy human hair wigs have the cuticle still attached at the ends and aren't processed. These wigs are sometimes called,"virgin hair" and "cut hair" wigs.Remy wigs have also been sorted so they are all facing the same direction. They feel softer to the touch and have less tangling.
These are the major classifications of wigs. There are other types of wigs too.
Full lace units come with different specifications. They are lace, but they have urethane strips of adhesives to stick to.You can use lace tapes directly on the lace it's self without the tape shining through the unit.
The hair is not sewn on by a machine, but rather each hair is attached by hand.Because of this meticulous and time-consuming process, the price goes up in comparison to other types. The reason why having the whole cap made of lace is better than anything else is the natural and seamless look you get.
Your hairline will look real and perfect and you can also part your hair any way you want to.You can ever have cornrows because the lace ensures a realistic parting everywhere.Wearing a high ponytail or different updos is also not a problem with a full lace wig so you have countless style options.Since the lace is very thin,a full lace is so comfortable to wear,it will feel just like your natural hair.
We recommend that you select this type if you want the most natural look possible. This hairpiece will mimic your natural strands perfectly no one will ever dream that you're wearing a wig.Although it is more expensive than other types, the look and feel of this wig is simply not comparable to cheaper varieties.
A full lace is perfect for our most demanding customers who only want the absolute best. The only downside to a full lace is that you do not have the option to sew in any additional bundles on the cap in order to make it fuller.
It consists out of a cap on the crown area of the head and mesh material going all around the hairline. This is a very clever design because you still get the lace material where it matters the most.In other words, your hairline, but the cost of making it is cheaper because there's also a cap in the middle.
The lace has individual hairs sewn by hand and it imitates a natural hairline, making it indistinguishable from real strands growing out of your scalp. This type of wig is immensely versatile because you have the option to try out all kinds of different styles, including high ponytails and updos.
The 360 lace also allows you to part your strands in many ways, like in the middle or on the sides. We recommend a 360 wig if you need something relatively affordable and realistic looking. You will be amazed how a 360 frontal completely transforms your style while looking seamless. This type of hairpiece will satisfy even some of our most demanding customers.
Lace front wigs have the same appearance with full lace wigs. The lace frontal human hair wig is completely designed with a sheer lace along the front hairline attached to the front of the wig.Which makes it looks as if the wig hair is growing from your own scalp.
In comparison to front lace wigs, full lace wigs are more expensive as it takes longer to make.It will take a technician 3-5 days to finish the crocheting process of full lace wig.For me,I prefer the later.
What Does the Wig Density Mean?
Density means how much hair there is on a cap.It determines the thickness and overall volume of the hair.If the density is very low,you will get thin and fine hair and if it's higher, you will get more thickness.
You need to determine what kind of look you're going for in order to select the right density percentage.90% is the lowest density that you can get,and it is not really recommended, just like 100 – 110% density.130% density is a great option because it is very similar to real hair.
With full lace wigs, the density is predetermined, and you must choose it when purchasing. These wigs usually have normal density.360 frontal and lace front wigs are better for girls who want more density and volume because you have the option to add as many bundles as you can fit onto the wig.But you will mostly see the density represented by a certain percentage. We will explain each one so that you can choose what works best for you.
90% Wig Density
This is the lowest density wig that you can buy.The strands are very thin and there is barely volume.AiryHair does not sell any 90% density wigs because they're simply not up to our standards and we don't recommend that you use it because you won't get good results.Although it is cheap,it is really not worth it.
100% to 110% Wig Density
This is another option that is not available from the AiryHair store. The reason for that is the low density of the strands. You will not get a lot of hair on the cap and there's very little volume. This type of density only suits women who have naturally very thin and fine hair and want to mimic that with their wig.Otherwise,we recommend that you go for higher density.
120% to 130% Wig Density
This is the most common wig density that you'll find at most places.Uyasi Hair wigs have a 130% default density which is the density of normal human hair.
Such wigs will look real and natural because they mimic your own locks. If you're not looking for over the top volume and what something to wear every day, this wig density is a great choice.
150% Wig Density
This is a good density choice for all women who like that extra volume that still looks natural. You will get a bit of a density boost and the wig will look as slightly thicker hair.It is a bit more expensive than the default density wig,but that extra thickness really makes a difference.
180% Wig Density
For girls who want to look extra glamorous and love long, voluminous locks. This type of wig will give you incredible fullness and thickness that is instantly noticeable.Although the wig looks completely realistic, its density is much higher than that of normal hair. You will love all the amazing hairstyle you can make with this much hair and feel special while wearing a 180% density wig.
200% Wig Density
Extra dense wigs are for real divas out there who want to feel like a celebrity or a pop star.If you dream about mermaid-like tresses, then this is the right wig density for you.You will get noticed and be in the center of attention wherever you go.This is the most expensive option out of all others, but it is worth it for the incredible amount of hair that you get.
How much does it cost to buy a wig?
The cost of buying a wig can vary anywhere from $50 - $3000.It's up to you and the features and benefits you feel are important in your lifestyle. The good news…There is a wig for any budget and even a less expensive wig can be a nice Choice.Just lower your expectations on the time it will last.
